This old map of Groton indicates that the farm is located on a portion of what was originally the Scott Family Homestead, probably relatives of William Scott, the famous Sleeping Sentinel.
This photo is taken from the treeline to the west of the house. Children of the previous owner have indicated that it was, for a time, the location of the vegetable garden.
Looking to the west you can see Spruce Mountain in the distance.
Most of the woods, as well as the fields, are saturated with various sized rocks and boulders. This makes the land stubborn for any agricultural pursuits.
The West Branch of the Wells River runs through a portion of the property.
The woods are filled with moss covered rocks and stumps.
This little brook flows from the wetland about 200 yards upstream.
It's not unusual to find old trails that run parallel to the rivers and streams. These probably date back to the earliest settlers.
This upper field was primarily a pasture and in the winter a ski hill.
This is the vernal pond in the wetland.
Most of the property was logged in the late 1990's.
Two moose in the lower field.
The moose way off in the distance.
